Bladder Blues

Dr Jones' Nutritional Recommendations for UTIs ...Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the second most common type of infection in the body. They account for about 8.3 million doctor visits each year.  90% of these are Cystitis.  Women are especially prone to Cystitis.

In Cistitis, where eColi is the main problem.  d-Mannose removes the the sticky coating around the eColi.  This does not allow it to attach to the bladder wall and allows it to be flushed from the bladder.  It has also been used for interstitial cystitis.
  • Do you have a constant 'Need To Go' to the Bathroom?  Simple muscle tension could be the cause.  Then again, perhaps you have a mild bladder infection.
  • Do you have recurring bladder infections?  (AKA cystitis or UTI)  The infectious agent is usually e.Coli.  The herbs in BladrEase coupled with d-Mannose are very effective against this infectious agent.
  •  A Government Study (CDC):  over half of seniors are plagued by incontinence (bladder leaks), bladder infections and other urinary problems.
"Bladder and bowel incontinence is a highly prevalent disease that has emotional, health, social and economic impacts in the daily life of our elderly population in the U.S.," said Dr. Farzeen Firoozi, a urologist at North Shore-LIJ Health System in Manhasset, N.Y.

Many people swear by the benefits of cranberry juice - but it  has lots of sugar.  This  can be a problem if you are working to control your weight.  D-Mannose, the active ingredient in cranberry juice, is an effective alternative.

Some lifestyle changes may help:
  • balance fluid intake,
  • maintain a healthy weight,
  • exercise (kegel is specific for bladder control),
  • quit smoking
  • avoid constipation
Did you know that some medications can ‘cause’ incontinence - especially chemo drugs?
If you suspect that you are having problems from your meds, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Men - your prostate may put pressure on your bladder.  One reason for this is that you may have a low grade prostate infection.  D-Mannose might help here, too.

Older men are often bothered by multiple trips to the bathroom at night.  d-Mannose offers a solution.  We have reports that the best way of taking d-Mannose for this situation is a heaping teaspoon-full in 2 or 3 oz of water at bedtime.

Voila - GREAT IMPROVEMENT.

Get the scoop on Ultra Monolaurin

http://nutritionpureandsimple.com/p-666-learn-about-monolaurin-benefits-here.aspx
Our NATURAL Ultra Monolaurin is the one that also includes the other antimicrobial medium chain fatty acids: Monomyristin, Monocaprin and Monocaprylin - and nothing else - no fillers, no binders, no dyes, no capsule.

Each 1/4 tsp (750 mg) of these easy-to-take pellets delivers a 90% pure distillate of coconut oil (hint: all the benefits of coconut oil - but you don't have to take a cupful or two to reap the rewards).

Coconut oil is a mixture of long and medium chain fatty acids.  The magic is in the medium chains, which possess antimicrobial properties.  Yes, Monolaurin is present in the highest concentration; but each monoglyceride has a specific health advantage.

In studies Monolaurin has demonstrated the most ability to fight against viruses, bacteria parasites and fungi.  However, there are some instances where one or another of the medium chain monoglycerides may work better against specific organisms.  In some instances it is the only one to work against a specific organism.

Coconut oil (and Ultra Monolaurin) is a natural combination of 'medium chain fatty acids'.  Because they work synergistically you can anticipate a more effective result .

STUDIES:

Monocaprin - was effective against C. jejuni
Monocaprylin - with caprylic acid - was effective against a variety of bacterial pathogens, including Campylobacterjejuni (C. jejuni)
Monomarystin - was most active against chlamydia (compared with the other monoglycerides)

Monocaprylin (Caprylic acid) has been demonstrated (and used for over 50 years) to inhibit the growth of candida albicans.

Antibacterial study of the medium chain fatty acids and their 1-monoglycerides: individual effects and synergistic relationships

"The protozoan parasite Giardia lamblia is killed by monoglycerides from hydrolyzed human milk. "

What the heck is an 'Active' B Vitamin? Why is it important?

High Homocysteine and Brain Function

 How's the ole' brain today?

As we age most things we need in the body slow down.  We have found one that goes UP instead - Homocysteine.  And that's not good. It has been common knowledge for many years that high levels of Folic acid, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 are needed to reduce the level of homocysteine.

I can hear you saying -  my multi has these B Vitamins.  Isn't that enough?  NO!

An elevated level of Homocysteine (EH) is a clear sign that your body has a problem converting the B Vitamins to their active form.

There are a number of very-hard-to-deal-with consequences of EH - ranging from poor bone health to cardiovascular disease to brain structure & function.   Brain, Homocysteine and B Vitamins web site cites information that it might take 30 or 40 years for the brain to decline and exhibit the brain shrinkage associated with Alzheimer's.  They recommend homocysteine screening for those over 50 - and for anyone at risk for cardiovascular disease, those with BiPolar disease, Schizophrenia, and anyone exhibiting early signs of dementia, Alzheimer's or memory loss.

 Getting More Forgetful?

A Simple Solution

Our newly reformulated Ultra Vites is made with active B Vitamins.  So, what are these mysterious 'forms', and what are they good for?

'Active' is short for 'BioActive.  This means that the body does not have to transform  whatever the intake was into something it can use in its daily work.   There are genetic reasons (affecting a large percentage of the population) that the body cannot make or has trouble making the conversions.  And, as we age everything slows down.  Skewed diets and skewed nutritional supplementation can exaggerate the problems.  Supplying the active form skirts these problems.

Ultra Vites has been formulated to provide more than adequate levels of the active B vitamins and bio available minerals.  In fact, it provides high levels of all the critical nutrients.

  • 800 mcg Folic Acid as l-methylFolate
  • 1000 mcg Vitamin B12 as methylCobalamin
  • 25 mg Vitamin B2 as Riboflavin 5' Phosphate
  • 25 mg Vitamin B6 as Pyridoxal 5' Phosphate
  • 25 mg Vitamin B1 (thiamine)
  • 40 mg Vitamin B3 (niacinamide)
  • 75 mg Vitamin B5 (d-calcium pantothenate)
  • 500 mcg Biotin
DID YOU KNOW that in order for a single B Vitamin to do its work all B Vitamins must be present? That means that if you have trouble converting B12, for instance, all the other B Vitamins are not working at peak efficiency.

It is fascinating that there are ongoing scientific studies using methylcobalamin, active B12, for the pain of diabetic neuropathy, low back pain, general pain management, chronic pain management and much more.  PubMed also lists a number of studies where active b vitamins are being used to treat pain and pain related conditions.

One interesting observation: some study subjects were not classified as being deficient in a vitamin, yet they had high homocystieine levels.  Obviously the problems occur because of an inability to convert to the active forms..
