Ultra Vites, formulated by John W Jones, MD, MPH, has been very popular since it was introduced as Opti-Vites in 2010.

Why did we take a superior formula and make it even better?

Recent studies indicate a need for more emphasis on the B Vitamins

1)  Folate, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B2 & Vitamin B6 have been upgraded to their methylated/active forms.

FACT: In order to become active in the body, certain B Vitamins, namely Folate and Vitamin B12, must be methylated.   While methylation is one of the essential metabolic processes in the body, an estimated 30% of the population suffers from methylation defects.  Ultra Vites now contains Folate as L-Methylfolate and Vitamin B12 as Methylcobalamin.

FACT: Commonly used supplemental B Vitamins such as B2 and B6 must be converted by the liver into their active forms. Ultra Vites now contain Vitamin B2 as Riboflavin-5-Phosphate (R-5-P) and Vitamin B6 as Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P-5-P), the active forms which are used more readily by the body.

Studies have shown that supplementing with various active B Vitamins may offer the following benefits:
  • Improved nutritional status in pregnant women.
  • Significantly improved depression management.  This enhances antidepressant response and improves work, home and social functioning.
  • Improved treatment for bipolar disorder.
  • Those suffering from these problems may experience improved pain relief:
    • diabetic neuropathy,
    • low back pain,
    • and neuralgia.
  • You may be able to reduce the risk of stroke, cardiac events, and dementia by lowering total homocysteine plasma concentrations - the bio available forms of these B Vitamins are more effective.
2)  Biotin (Vitamin B7) has been increased to 500 ug.

According to WebMD, Biotin is an important component of enzymes in the body that break down certain substances, like fats, carbohydrates and more.

Biotin has been shown to significantly increase nail thickness, improve brittle fingernails, and reduce splitting.  If these improvements are important to you, check out Phyto-Derm capsules for even more Hair and Nail benefits.

 About the B Vitamins

In general, the B vitamins are so meagerly supplied in the American diet that most of us  lack some of them. Sugar, alcohol and caffeine also cause deficiency problems. The need for B vitamins increases during infection or stress.  Children and pregnant and lactating women need higher levels for normal growth.  Most authorities agree that the B Vitamins work best if all are supplemented.

In one way or another, each of the B Vitamins plays a critical role in cell metabolism. Ultra Vites contains all 8 B Vitamins, ensuring support for healthy metabolic, digestive, cardiovascular, and nerve functions.

3)  We added trace minerals to our formula.
Trace minerals need to be supplied on a daily basis. Many of our body’s biological processes rely on trace minerals which function as co-factors or tools which help your body function properly. Poor farming practices such as excessive cultivation and erosion drain nutrients from the soil. Unless the soil is adequately replenished, which many times it is not, the food grown in these depleted fields will be lacking important nutrients. Ultra Vites now contain a natural trace mineral complex from sea water which supplies a full spectrum of trace and ultratrace minerals in ionic form. These trace minerals along with the other nutrients supplied in this innovative formula help support your body in maintaining health.

4)  We have switched to veggie caps, another important consideration for vegetarians.
